오늘부터는 뉴질랜드 8대 대학을 하나씩 포스팅 해볼까 하는데요.

 

그 첫번째로 뉴질랜드 해밀턴에 위치한 와이카토 대학교 The University of Waikato 자세히 소개해 드릴게요.

 

 

뉴질랜드 와이카토 대학교는 뉴질랜드에서 4번째로 큰 해밀턴 지역에 위치하고 있는데요. 뉴질랜드 오클랜드에서 대략 1시간 30분 정도 떨어진 곳입니다

 

와이카토 대학교는 1956년도에 해밀턴에 사람들이 지역 대학의 필요하다는 건의로 인해서 1964년에 처음 대학을 개교하게 되었는데요

현재는 총 14,000여명의 학생들이 와이카토 대학에서공부하고 있으며 뉴질랜드에서는 최초로 인터넷 수업을 도입하기도 하였습니다.

 

이 중 4분의 1이 25세 이상의 성인이구요 과반수 이상이 여학생입니다. 와이카토 대학의 마오리 재학생 수는 뉴질랜드 대학 중 가장 높은 비율을 차지하고 있습니다.

와이카토 대학의 가장 큰 자랑거리는 아름다운 캠퍼스인데 70 헥타르의 부지에 공원같은 캠퍼스 경관을 자랑하구 있구요 도서관에는 백만권이 넘는 장서가 있으며 컴퓨터 네트워크는 800개의 터미널로 연결되어 있습니다.

 

와이카토 대학교에서는 수료증 코스부터 대학원 학위까지 제공하고 있으며 21개의 학사 학위와 20여개의 석사 학위가 개설되어 운영중입니다. 주요 과정으로는 비지니스, 인문학, 커뮤니케이션, 그래픽디자인, 컴퓨터, 엔지니어링, 음악, 사회과학, 스포츠, 관광학,등의 코스등이 준비되어 있습니다.

 

와이카토 대학교에서는 유학생을 위하여 유학생 전용 센터를 운영하고 있으며 뉴질랜드 도착 서비스, 오리엔테이션, 비자 관련정보, 숙소, 픽업등의 유학생에게 필요한 모든 부분을 지원해주고 있습니다.

 

 

뉴질랜드 와이카토 대학교 입학 자격 요건

 

뉴질랜드 와이카토 대학교 기본 요구 사항은 다음과 같습니다.

뉴질래느 고등학교에서 NCEA를 공부한 경우 최소 레벨 3, 42 학점 이상과 레벨 3에서 승인되 2과목에서 14학점 이상

수학과목 레벨 1이상 14학점 이상이어야 합니다. 영어 성적은 IELTS 점수나 토플이 인정 되며 각 전공마다 점수 인정이 다릅니다.

 

한국에서 고등학교를 졸업한 경우에는 와이카토 대학에서 진행하는 파운데이션 과정을 이수하신후에 대학에 입학하실 수 있습니다.

Important: International Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students enrolled in recognised research programmes at New Zealand universities may qualify for domestic student status. To hold domestic student status, international Doctor of Philosophy students must be resident in New Zealand during their study, except for temporary absences for the purposes of their research (conducting research and fieldwork appropriate to their course of study). The University defines a ‘temporary absence’ as no more than 12 months in total during the period of their candidature.

A student enrolled in a New Zealand university but remaining resident overseas does not have domestic student status.
